Its name stems from Segura, name by which it was known in Muslim times. A safe, protected, fortified place. It talks about the watchtower built for defensive purposes by the Muslims.

It is in the s.XIII when it changed the name to Segurilla.

The first evidence of settlement dates back to the eleventh century, when the territory was re-conquered by Alfonso VI. In the mid-twelfth century, in the midst of the repopulation process, the Almohade raids took place, and devastated part of the Talavera community. This supposed the lifting of numerous and fortified towers and watchtowers throughout the region.

This tower was later used as a sentry post for transhumant livestock because of its proximity to the Cañada Real.

ERMITA DE LA SOLEDAD (*): from the sixteenth century, it is the oldest building in town. It only preserves the porch in its original state. In front of the shrine there is one of the Via Crucis cruises around the whole village. It was recently restored.

ERMITA SANTA ANA (*): Reformed between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It depicts the image of San Roque, a valuable carving by Gaspar de Cuellar, late s. XVI or early s.XVII.

VIA CRUCIS (*): In the XVI-XVII isolated crossings around and within the village. The cross section is almost Greek cylindrical.

ATALAYA (**): tower 15 m. height, located south of the town, situated 625m above sea level, where it overlooks the whole of the Tagus valley to the south and the roads of the North coming from the Sierra de Gredos. It has Muslim origin (X and XI century) and a circular shape, built with heavy stone and lime showing parts of the scaffolding.

In the Middle Ages, especially in the dangerous years of the re-conquest of the area, these watchtowers were built, forming what is called an "alert network" in line with other visual surveillance, to protect the towns.

It is believed that they were made by Abd al-Rahman III in the year 937 as a reconstruction of the entire defensive system of the central border or Marca Media, covering two needs: the protection and restoration of the power of the emirs of Córdoba and the defense from the continuous attacks of the Kings of Leon and the counts of Castile (Julio Garcia Hernandez).
