It owes its name to the abundance of big game it had, especially deer.
During the Middle Ages, this place was full of oaks and junipers, with
lots of big game.
Back in the XII Century we can find the first remains of Cervera when
Henry II of Trastámara disassociated it from Talavera de la Reina
at the same time as Mejorada and Segurilla. In the XV century, it became
part of the county of Oropesa, until 1639 in which it was awarded the
title of village by the grace of King Philip IV. However, there are
references to the population of this territory since 4500 years a. C.
There are late-Roman remains of settlements and of a road.
According to tradition, this place was inhabited by shepherds who passed
through here with their flocks and as they got news of the abundant
high quality pasture decided to establish.

of La Deleitosa. It consists of a single nave with a higher presbytery
whose apse is a three-sided polygon and two slopes. The bell tower has
two bodies. Its most relevant style is the Herrerian.
At the top of the dome, between the two doors, there is an oil painting
representing the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, head of the church,
that belongs to the Spanish school of the XVII century.

of regional heritage of the Province of Toledo) XVII-XVIII Century. It
has a square shape. Inside, there is a semicircular arch niche. It is
built with rough stone blocks at the corners.
In the XIX Century, it was home to French soldiers during the War of Independence,

It has been in ruins and with no roof for many years, but it was restored
and there visitors can find the image of San Roque, patron of the town.

Marrupe and it construction date is not defined.
SHRINE OF THE ROSARIO: It can be spotted on the road

It is small in proportion, but is enriched with a valuable base of Talavera

House of Trades funded by the European Social Fund.
SHRINE OF EL CONSUELO: Next to the graveyard, it was
restored in 2004 as well as the Shrine of the Rosario. It was ransacked

ROYAL SILK FACTORY: Founded in the middle of the XVIII
Century, of Neoclassical style. It was dependent to the Royal Silk Factory
of Talavera. Until recently, the manufacturing complex consisted of mulberry
trees that were planted to feed silkworms to produce silk. Currently,
on the remains of the factory, several houses have been built.
The buildings were concentrated in the outskirts of the village beside
the main road, setting up twelve mills for grinding, several benches for
winding and some machines for folding the silk.
Today, the main building
or Mill House is still standing and it is divided into private homes.
The central access doorway is of special interest.
