The name may originate in good, nice, from the Latin "bonus." There is another version that could be "a good time or occasion."

Since its creation as a village, it was part of the Navamorcuende marquisate until the late Eighteenth Century.

This town is linked to the feudal and repopulating lineage of the Davila, by the end of the XV Century and the beginning of the XVI.

 

 
 
 
 
 

This town is situated on the banks of the river Tietar, northwest of the county. .

To get there, we must take the Extremadura highway N-V and divert in the 115 KM by CM-5051 until Marrupe and then take CM-5100 to Buenaventura.

It is also accessible by bus.

 
 
 

CHURCH OF THE HOLY CROSS: From the XVI Century. It has a Renaissance style with a Basilica shape consisting of three naves. The head with a three-sided polygonal apse is separated from the rest of the structure by a semicircular triumphal arch supported on pilasters.

SHRINE OF THE GOOD HAPPENING: From XVII-XVIII Centuries. It has a popular style and a square shape. It has a supported roof covering the front and the main structure as well as pillars of Tuscan origins.

SHRINE OF SAN SEBASTIAN: From XVII-XVIII Centuries. Small chapel located on a hill on the outskirts of town. It is a rectangular block with an outside factory of coarse block stones and pavement molding in the cornice.

Monuments included in the inventory of regional heritage of the Province of Toledo.


 
 
 

MILL-PRESS HOUSE: Restos de un molino de cubo. El edificio se utilizó como lagar a través de una desviación que se hizo en el canal posteriormente.

FOUNTAIN-WATERING PLACE: XIX-XX Centuries. It is a rectangular pylon fountain put together with rectangular blocks and with iron clamps. It consists of two pipes which show the date 1903. On it, a piece with side cushions that show a shield with crown inside which, as a shield, there is an image wearing a habit and carrying a double cross on his right hand. By his head -covered with a cap- on the left side, there is a six-pointed star. Under the shield there is an inscription which reads: San Buenaventura.

 
 
 

The rural exodus of the last century marked this town. In the 50’s this town came to exceed the figure of 1000 inhabitants, while between the 70’s and 80’s this figure suffered a drastic drop which placed the population below 600 inhabitants, a figure that has not yet recovered.
